Can i paint my sink and toilet.
Due to being in a rental unit i can t paint my bathroom sink but i could definitely stock up on some supplies for my crafts paintbrushes glaze stuff like that and a few things for my new place.
First remove all the old caulk.
With your paint can about 6 8 inches away start spray painting.
Remember to clean the sides and bottom of the sink if you plan to paint those areas.
Next coat the toilet bowl with latex acrylic spray primer.
The key here is to do a very light coat.
Place a bucket under the sink.
How to paint a bathroom sink.
Apply a thin coat of paint to the sink using a natural bristle paintbrush.
The sink paint takes 15 minutes to dry to the touch but will take 3 days to fully cure.
Sand the entire sink with medium grit sandpaper or sand.
And if you need help planning and executing a budget bathroom makeover start with the great ideas in this post.
Apply 2 3 light coats letting each one dry in between for 15 minutes.
Rinse the entire sink with water and dry with a towel.
Choose an appliance epoxy spray paint that s engineered to promote an attractive glossy finish that will stand up well against moisture based duress.
Step 5 applying primer.
The painting was actually pretty easy but these steps take time.
Or if you ve got outdated tile instead of a sink or in addition to since these things seem to travel in flocks you can paint the tile in your bathroom or shower as well.
If you paint too thickly you ll end up with drips that you will have to sand out plus those areas will scratch and flake.
If you skip this step your paint will peel and chip possibly clogging your drains and definitely requiring a complete do over.
Ordinary latex and acrylic paints are inappropriate for toilet bowls.
You may need to scrub a few times before it s appropriately clean.
I always go from left to right and back again using short even light sprays.
The paint needs to stick to the surface of the tub sink or toilet not to the soap scum or dust that has accumulated over time.
The most important thing about painting a bathroom sink is the prep work.
Hold the spray can about 8 inches away from the bowl.
I think i spent about 1 1 2 hours cleaning the sink before i even started painting.
Only use in well ventilated areas.
If you skip this step the primer and paint won t stick to the toilet.
When using primer or paint follow all safety precautions as provided on the products.
Shake it well hold the can 10 16 away from the sink and spray in a steady back and forth motion.
